The Coconino National Forest is planning several prescribed burn projects for the week of Monday, Oct. 26. Smoke will be visible in the area if the conditions are favorable.
The Brie Piles project is a 700-acre project located on the Mogollon Rim Ranger District, immediately south of the Lake Mary Road and State Route 87 Intersection in Clints Well. The burn is to lessen the potential for undesired wildfire in the area.
The A1 Piles burn is a 260-acre burn on the Flagstaff Ranger District, nine miles northwest of Flagstaff, 2.5 miles northeast. The smoke is expected to drift to the west and northwest during and immediately after ignition. Smoke is expected to settle into the local area.
The Frog Tank Pile burn is located on the Flagstaff Ranger District, one mile northwest of Munds Park. There will be light smoke impact to I-17 directly adjacent to the burn as well as on Munds Park overnight.
Prescribed burns are always dependent on multiple conditions, including fuel conditions, weather and Arizona Department of Environmental Quality approval.
