The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Yavapai Silent Witness are asking for the public’s help in identifying a hit and run suspect in an incident from 2014 in Prescott. Officials say 70-year-old Joyce Erickson was struck by a vehicle in the early morning hours of December 22nd as she walked along Old Chisholm Trail. Detectives found Erickson after a resident heard a noise then saw a vehicle with round headlights, use his driveway to turn around and leave. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Since the incident, detectives have followed up on several leads and have reason to believe the vehicle was either a passenger car or an SUV. The driver may have been leaving the Country Club area on the way to work. The lighting in the area and the fact that Joyce was wearing dark clothing at the time leads investigators to believe the incident was not intentional. Yavapai Silent Witness is offering a one-thousand dollar reward to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest. Anyone who has information regarding the incident is urged to call Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.
