A routine traffic stop lead to the arrest of two California men on Interstate-40 Wednesday near Ash Fork. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say a 2016 white Dodge Charger was pulled over for an equipment violation at around 1 p.m. When talking to the driver, 31-year-old Jabril Burrell, the deputy smelled marijuana. Burrell denied consent to a search, so the deputy brought out K9 officer “Gemma” who detected marijuana in the trunk. Deputies found more than 15 pounds of marijuana in several suitcases. Both Burrell and 21-year-old Andre Ortega, who was a passenger in the car, admitted to possessing the pot and transporting it to the east coast. Both men were arrested on drug charges.
