The decision to build a new courthouse in Flagstaff will head to the voters. The Flagstaff City Council is moving forward with plans for the news facility, if voters approve a 12-million dollar bond in November. The new courthouse will be built on the site of the old county jail on Birch Avenue and North Agassiz Street. The building will house both city courts and Coconino County Justice Court. The city and the county would split the 40-million dollar project cost. A downtown parking garage is also included in the plan, which could provide opportunities for downtown parking for the public. The city council is expected to officially put the plan on the November ballot at their July 5th meeting.
