The trial of accused NAU shooter Steven Jones continued Wednesday as shooting victims Nick Prato and Kyle Zientek took the stand. Prato told the court what he saw leading to the shooting in October of 2015. He told the court he witnessed Colin Brough and Nick Piring being shot. Prato then said he ran to Brough to try and help. After a few moments, he said he stood up and took “a couple steps forward” toward the shooter when he was shot in the neck. After he was shot, he ran to Brough’s apartment and friends tended to him until paramedics arrived. Jones is accused of fatally shooting Brough and wounding Prato, Piring and Zientek. Jones is charged with first degree murder and six counts of aggravated assault. The trial resumes at 9 a.m. this morning at Coconino County Superior Court.
