Two kids were arrested last week after allegedly vandalizing Big Park School in the Village of Oak Creek. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say the two 15-year-olds apparently went into the school at around 4 p.m. last Wednesday and into a classroom. It was there investigators found the room ransacked, with broken glass, a fire started in a trash can, a fire extinguisher activated and explicit drawings on a whiteboard with a name that someone tried to erase. The name was taken for further investigation. School officials say damage to the classroom is estimated to be $15-hundred dollars and could go higher. During the investigation, another room was found with fire extinguisher damage. Investigators found footprints in the extinguisher coating. Detectives tracked down the juvenile at Red Rock High school whose name was found on the whiteboard. He claimed his friend, the second suspect, was the one who wrote his name on the board. The teen had extinguisher residue on his shoe. He and his friend were arrested, but both indicated there were others that helped in the destruction, including lighting the trash can on fire. Both were taken to a juvenile detention facility in Prescott.
