Two people were killed when the plane they were in, went down in a remote area southeast of Montezuma Castle Saturday near Camp Verde. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials received a call at around 6:30 p.m. concerning an overdue small plane. A family member said they had been trying to reach the pilot for several hours without success. Officials say the pilot, 68-year-old Glenn Tenniswood from Camp Verde, told family members he was taking 78-year-old Ron Walker, also from Camp Verde for a short flight around the Yavapai County. Local airports had no record of the plane being in the air. Authorities were able to pick up a GPS location thanks to one of the people’s phone that was on board the aircraft. The plane was found at around 8:30 p.m. The plane has been identified as a home-built aircraft known as an “Air Camper” model.
