There are a couple of lightning-caused fires are burning near the Tusayan area. The Airstrip Fire was discovered last Wednesday and is six acres in size. It’s burning just south of Tusayan on the east side of Highway 64. Smoke can be seen from the town and may be seen from Grand Canyon Village, Cameron and Valle. The Scott Fire is five acres and is burning eleven miles east of Tusayan. Smoke from that fire might be seen from area towns. Both fires are being treated for forest health.
