Two Chino Valley residents have been arrested on charges of animal abuse. Chino Valley Police responded to the 600 block of North Road 1 West Monday for a report of two puppies being kept in a small cage. When officers arrived they found two, six-month-old, black and white female puppies in a four-by-four kennel. The area was covered in trash and the kennel was full of feces. The dogs didn’t have access to water and food and the collars they were wearing were too tight on them and caused injuries. Chino Valley Animal Control took possession of the puppies, now named Riyah and Samira, and took them to the Chino Valley Animal Hospital for treatment. Arrested were 39-year-old Penny Graydon and 21-year-old Joel Graydon. Both were charged with animal neglect, abuse and mistreatment. The puppies are going to require extensive treatment. The shelter is asking the public for donations to the Animal Hospital, or drop a donation off at the shelter, to help treat the dogs.
