The fight continues to keep the Navajo Generating Station in Page open. Tribal officials along with representatives with the United Mine Workers of America, called on the Central Arizona Project today to pause for 90-days so a deal to buy NGS by Middle River Power can be done. Things come to a head when the CAP board meets to discuss the plant’s future tomorrow. The “Yes to NGS” coalition argues 90 days means no action would be required until the September 7th board meeting. What’s at stake is over 800 Navajo and Hopi jobs at the plant and the Kayenta Mine.
