A man Colorado man charged in connection with the deaths of a Williams couple back in May of last year is heading to trial this month. Twenty-nine-year-old Derrick Barnett has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of first-degree burglary and theft. The Grand Junction, Colorado resident is accused of killing 67-year-old Michael Dimuria and his 64-year-old wife Nora at their home in the Red Lake area north of Williams. He is also accused of taking the couple’s car. Deputies from the Dolores County Sheriff’s Department in Colorado found the missing Jeep Liberty in western Colorado. Authorities there say Barnett stole another vehicle and was tracked down. Barnett started firing on law enforcement officials as a chase ensued. After a brief chase, deputies forced the vehicle off the road, causing it to roll. Barnett was taken into custody. His trial begins August 21st at the Coconino County Courthouse in Flagstaff.
