A small plane crashed at the Sedona Oak Creek Airport Wednesday afternoon. Fire officials say the small plane skidded off the south end of the runway at around 4:49 p.m. and caught fire. Fire crews were quick to the scene and put the fire out on the Beechcraft Bonanza’s landing gear. Officials say a door or compartment on the plane had come open when the plane took off. The pilot was attempting to return to the airport and land when the plane overshot the runway and crashed. All of the plane’s three occupants were able to get out of safely and declined transportation to an area hospital.
