A man who was serving time in Maricopa County has been charged with a robbery case in Cornville. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say 34-year-old Jeremy Smith of Sedona was hired back in October of last year to stay in a Cornville home while the homeowner relocated out of the country for a period of time. In January, the homeowner learned of problems he was causing in the neighborhood and was asked to leave. Later that month, deputies were called to the home and found Smith there. He was arrested for trespassing, drug possession and other violations. In May, the homeowner returned to find the home in shambles and many valuable items were missing. After a search of pawn records, Smith was found selling some of the missing items. Last week Smith was extradited to the Camp Verde Detention Center on an unrelated warrant. He has been charged in the May incident and remains in custody.
