The search two missing people from the backcountry area of the Grand Canyon will start to be scaled back. National Park officials say search and rescue crews have looked for the past five days for 62-year-old Lou Ann Merrell and 14-year-old Jackson Standefer. The two were last seen crossing Tapeats Creek below the confluence with Thunder River Saturday evening. When they crossed, they lost footing and were swept down the creek. Rescue crews are looking along the Colorado River today with a crew operating an inflatable motor raft. If no additional information is received today, the search will be limited to just regular patrols of the area. If anyone has information into the disappearance, contact the National Park Service.
