It’s was a smokey morning in Flagstaff Thursday morning and it might be again Friday morning. Wednesday fire managers burned over two-thousand acres on the Horseshoe Slate project. Thursday, fire managers are burning around 15-hundred acres on the Horseshoe Wild Bill project, both are near Kendrick Mountain. Also, wildland fire crews with the Flagstaff Fire Department will be conducting their own burns around Flagstaff over the next couple of weeks. Fire managers are conducting the larger burns while the weather is unseasonably warm and dry. All the burns are needed to clean up the forest from brush and dead trees to prevent larger fires in the future.
