Prescott Valley Woman Killed After Being Hit By A Car Sunday
A Prescott Valley woman was killed after she was hit by a car Sunday. Police and Central Arizona Fire and Medical crews were called to State Route 69 and Valley View Drive at around 8:30 p.m. Investigators say a 28-year-old woman tried to cross the highway and was hit by a car driven by a 50-year-old Mayer woman. The victim was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital where she died from her injuries. Police say the driver tried to avoid the collision and was not driving impaired. The victim tried to cross the highway in a non-designated crossing area and also showed no signs of impairment. State Route 69 was closed and rerouted for almost two hours during the investigation.
So sad
> The victim tried to cross the highway in a non-designated crossing area
There is literally nowhere to cross as a pedestrian in this area, this is a failure of city planning and what’s to be expected when you drop a 6 lane roadway between residential and commercial.
Pedestrian bridges over SR69 would help. As an avid walker in the area, I have to cross many streets without crosswalks or lights and it’s you against many of the drivers here in PV, they will absolutely not stop for you. PV needs to begin pedestrian awareness in the area, educate the need to “yield” when someone wants to cross the street. My thoughts and prayers go out to all concerned.
I will say sorry for her families lost and hope they know nobody fault lets call it accident and prayers to both the victim’s family and one who drove the car.
Lord give them each the strength to carry through this world without her and
know that they are heard upon their way to follow her wishes and dreams.
In Jesus name I ask Amen
This happened right in front of me Sunday night. The lady who hit her was very upset saying that the victim was “wearing all black and just standing in the road “ I observed first responders doing CPR for over 12 minutes to get her breathing again. Then the ambulance took off.
Was driving by the site today and there is a cross with some flowers on the side of the road so I looked it up and found this article.
Not sure why she was in the road in that spot she was struck. It is very dark and sounds like she was impaired per this article. All I can say is it’s a tragedy for everyone. The first responders did everything they could to save her life. Prayers for her family and the lady who hit her on accident.
The article says they were both not impaired. Tragic for all involved.
My mistake i wrote wasn’t but it autocorrected to was. Appreciate getting that straight.
Yes, because details when you aren’t even her family are so unbelievably crucial for your grieving process.
I’m just curious did you actually see her get hit
My fault i should of had my glasses on. She showed no signs of impairment per the article.
All good Steve. Don’t sweat it. I can’t imagining witnessing something like that. All the best to you too.
This whole article shouldn’t even exist PERIOD. All the facts aren’t even placed here. INAPPROPRIATE!!!
