A Prescott man was arrested Monday morning after he allegedly robbed a bookstore where he once worked. Police say 34-year-old Jonathan Breninger was seen in an alley at around 4:40 a.m. When officers shined their flashlights on him and identified themselves, he left the area. Officers chased Breninger for a short distance until officers caught up to him and was detained. The man admitted to burglarizing Peregrine Books at 219 North Cortez Street. Before finding the man, the found a cash box in the alley, as well as other items that were later to be determined to be from the business. Authorities say during the burglary, Breninger was injured after using a hammer to break out a window where he entered the store. He has been booked into the Yavapai County Jail on burglary and criminal damage charges.
