A Prescott family is safe after narrowly escaping a house fire Thursday morning. Prescott Fire crews were called to a home in the Pinon Oaks subdivision in North Prescott at around 3:30 a.m. When the first crews arrived, they saw flames coming from the garage of the 25-hundred square foot home. Three people in the house were able to get out of the home safely before crews arrived. The fire was knocked down in about an hour with no injuries to firefighters. Investigators found a melted trash can in the garage that contained oily rags, solvent and mineral spirits inside. Officials believe that may have been the cause of the fire, but the matter is still under investigation. The fire caused around $500-thousand dollars damage and the home could be a total loss.
