A 19-year-old man was arrested after being seen with a weapon early Monday morning just off the NAU campus. Officials at NAU sent out an alert saying the person was spotted near Knoles Parking Garage and was armed. Multiple agencies responded to the scene just after midnight and found the person in question behind JoAnns Fabric near the garage with what turned out was a BB gun. Flagstaff Police say Christopher Crismon was threatening to commit suicide after a break-up with his girlfriend. Authorities negotiated with the suspect for about 20 minutes before Crismon was taken into custody. The Crismon was also found to be carrying a knife. There were no injuries involved in the incident. He was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility and it isn’t known if he was a student at NAU. Crismon was charged with shooting a firearm in city limits. The case remains under investigation.
