The pilot of the plane that crashed into a house in Cottonwood Monday morning has passed away. Cottonwood Police say emergency crews responded to the home in the 900-block of Tierra Verde Circle at around 9:45 a.m. When they arrived they found the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza fully engulfed in flames. The fire was put out and the plane is a total loss. The pilot, a 70-year-old Joseph William Kreiner of Cottonwood, got out of the plane while it was on fire. He was flown to the Maricopa Burn Center in Phoenix with serious injuries and passed away Tuesday. The house suffered minor damage and isn’t known if anyone was home at the time. The FAA and NTSB will take over the investigation, however the Kreiner told authorities the cause of the crash is because the engine had stopped.
