Alert neighbors help solve a crime in Mayer. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 13-thousand block of Dandrea Drive in Pine Flats in Mayer last Friday regarding a burglary of a house where the victim wasn’t home at the time. The victim found out from neighbors that unknown people committed the crime at around midnight. The neighbors saw a black extended cab pickup at the house. During the call, the victim relayed the information given to him about the vehicle. Deputies spotted the truck parked on the side of County Road 177, nine miles from the Mayer cemetery with a man inside. Authorities arrested 35-year-old Jacob Mechetner from Goodyear after he admitted to the crime. He admitted to taking money, a flashlight, tools and a car battery because he needed to jumpstart his truck. He was also in possession of meth. He has been booked on charges related to the crime and remains in custody on ten-thousand dollars bond.
