Both the NAU Lumberjacks men’s and women’s basketball teams trailed by more than 20 points each at halftime. Both teams rallied to within single digits, but couldn’t pull off the win against Idaho State Saturday. The NAU women got to within five points in the fourth quarter, but ran out of gas falling to Idaho State, 78-65. J.J. Nakai led the Jacks with 14 points and Reagan Schenck added 12 points and seven rebounds in the loss. The Jacks fall to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The NAU men rallied to within three points with about three minutes to play, but couldn’t get the win as they fell to the Bengals, 76-70. Cameron Shelton had 28 points, seven rebounds and seven assists and freshman Wynton Brown had a career-high 15 points off the bench. The men fall to 3-8 overall and 2-3 in conference. Idaho State swept both games, over both teams, in the two-game series. The Lumberjacks will regroup and take on the Montana Grizzlies next week. The women will play at home at the Rolle Activity Center Thursday night at 6 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at noon. The men will be on the road in Missoula against the Grizzlies.
