A strange incident took place north of Munds Park on Interstate-17 Sunday morning. Officials say a trooper responded to report of a man lying down in the median along I-17 northbound at milepost 325 at around 8:17 a.m. When he arrived, a nude man ran toward the patrol car and began hitting it with his fists multiple times. The trooper drove away from him and pulled over a short distance later. DPS says Montrais Boyd of Westminster, California, got into a car sitting alongside of I-17, with his four-year-old son inside, and began ramming the trooper’s vehicle several times. Boyd then fled the scene, driving the wrong-way, northbound along the southbound lanes for over a mile. The man then lost control, went into the shoulder and back into the northbound lanes. The car then ran into a rock embankment and rolled-over at milepost 331. Boyd and his son were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for minor injuries. The boy was reunited with his mother at the hospital and the man was taken into custody. Boyd was booked into the Coconino County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, child abuse, endangerment and criminal damage charges.
