More prescribed burns are scheduled for this week in the Coconino National Forest. Fire managers plan on burning just south of Munds Park on the east side of Interstate-17 Tuesday evening. The burn is about 19-hundred acres total and it will start at around 5 p.m. Smoke is predicted to run down Munds Canyon and impact Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek. Smoke will then rise after sunrise and drift to the east. The burn is expected to last for three days. Crews will also burn seven miles southeast of Mormon Lake, east of Lake Mary Road. That burn is expected to burn about 12-hundred acres and will also ignite at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The fire is expected to last through the week. The fires are being started in the evening because they can use cooler temperatures and higher humidities to control the fire as it burns in dense fuels.
