A Mesa woman was arrested Thursday after she was involved in a head-on collision on Cornville Road near Cornville. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say three vehicles were involved in the wreck that took place at 4:15 p.m. A gray Chevy Sonic, driven by 47-year-old Arlene Johnson hit a white van, head-on, after crossing the double yellow line into opposing traffic. The van rolled several times before coming to rest. The driver of a blue truck swerved to miss the accident and ended up off the road after hitting a post. While at the hospital, Johnson was in possession of a gram of meth and a glass pipe. Officials say she tried to get rid of the items in a trash can at the hospital. Johnson has been arrested for possession and tampering with physical evidence. She could face additional charges, pending the results of a blood test. All the drivers in the accident were wearing seat belts at the time. The conditions of the other two drivers are not known.
