As the massive winter storm begins to leave the state, some roads remain closed. ADOT says northbound Interstate-17 is closed from the State Route 179 exit north, which is the Sedona turnoff, however southbound I-17 remains open. State Route 89A between Flagstaff and Sedona is closed in both directions. State Route 87 from Payson to Winslow is also closed in both directions and State Route 260 from Heber to Payson is also closed in both directions over the Mogollon Rim. If you have to travel today, use caution and take your time to get through areas of snowpacked roads. From 3 a.m. yesterday to 3 a.m. today, state troopers in Northern Arizona received over 400 calls for stuck vehicles and slide-offs and responded to 76 crashes. ADOT recommends chains or four-wheel drive on most of the state’s roads through today.
