A man who shot at a forest service employee earlier this month was shot and killed by law enforcement early Saturday morning. FBI officials say officers with the U.S. Forest Service and San Carlos Apache Tribal Police responded to the San Carlos reservation near Globe at around 2 a.m. after learning the suspect was in the area. During the incident, the man shot at the officers who responded by shooting back. The man was shot and killed. The suspect was accused of starting fires on the Mogollon Rim earlier in the month. When a forest service worker was checking an area on the Fourth of July, the man fired multiple shots at him. The worker wasn’t injured. The man was spotted in the area, then was seen near Cibecue last week. His identity is not known and the incident is under investigation.
