A man is in custody after stealing a Speedy Taxi in Prescott Valley Thursday night. Officials say the suspect, 29-year-old Jose Montoya, threatened the cab driver and took off with the cab at around 9:10 p.m. Montoya was picked up by the cab driver at a location on the Prescott Tribal lands. After taking Montoya to the PV Motel, he threatened to kill the driver and took the cab. Police located the stolen taxi and tried to do a traffic stop. There was a high speed chase on State Route 69 on Fain Road that ended after Montoya came to a stop after hitting a parked truck back at the motel. He’s facing charges of armed robbery, vehicle theft, felony flight and reckless driving. Thanks to the work by local authorities, there were no injuries involved in the incident.
