A registered sex offender was arrested Friday after he was climbing a tree and peeking into classrooms at Summit High School. Police were called to the school at the four-thousand block of North Cummings Street at around 8 a.m. on a report of a male who was on campus looking into the school. After school officials confronted 38-year-old Jerrod Schmidt, he fled the area. When police arrived, Schmidt returned and was detained. Schmidt left the scene again and was later found at the Flagstaff Mall. Schmidt is a registered sex offender and was evicted from his home recently. Schmidt was booked into the Coconino County Jail on charges of trespassing and violation of sex offender registration requirements.
