YSCO Deputy Finds Eleven Pounds Of Fentanyl During Routine Traffic Stop Tuesday

A Yavapai County Sheriff’s K-9 unit turned a routine traffic stop into a drug bust Tuesday. A deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle that seemed to have excessive tint on its windows and something hanging from its rear-view mirror that was obstructing vision. The deputy and K-9 unit stopped the vehicle on northbound I-17 just north of Cordes Lakes, at around 2 p.m. and found the driver, Maximilano Gonzalez-Beltran, to be in possession of eleven pounds of fentanyl. Gonzalez-Beltran told authorities he is a Mexican citizen who crossed through the Port of Nogales and was traveling North through Yavapai County. Gonzalez-Beltran was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of transportation of a narcotic drug for sale and possession and use of drug paraphernalia.
