Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver, passenger, or both, of a white Ford truck that caused commotion Tuesday in Wilhoit. Authorities say at around 10 a.m., state workers stopped the white Ford truck in a construction zone. The driver of the truck was frantic, claiming his passenger had been shot and they were on their way to the hospital. The construction workers say the passenger seemed to be unconscious and covered in blood. The truck then turned off Walden Boulevard onto Highway 89 towards Prescott. Later in the day, the white truck re-appeared at the construction site where he told the workers his friend had been airlifted to Phoenix, but there was no report of this. YCSO Deputies contacted local hospitals, emergency medical services, air ambulance companies, and local fire stations, but came up empty-handed. No one had any information about a gunshot victim, and no air ambulance was used. Deputies then checked with everyone driving a white Ford truck in Wilhoit, but no one was believed to be the victim. The incident that caused injury is unclear, as well as if the injury sustained was a gunshot wound. Deputies are also unsure if the driver was just transporting his friend or if he was a witness. The driver of the vehicle is described as a male in his 50s with dark hair and a beard. The truck is described as a 2019-2020 white Ford truck with a brown stripe down the sides. The construction workers were unable to see details of the victim, other than he appeared to be in his 20s and covered in blood. The victim’s current medical status and severity of injury is unknown. YCSO is asking for the public’s help in finding both the victim and driver. If anyone has any information about this case, or the driver and victim’s whereabouts, contact Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office at (928)-777-7348 or contact Yavapai Silent Witness at (800)-932-3232 or yavapaisw.com
