Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies are targeting speeding in dangerous areas of the county. Officials say they stepped up patrols on Iron Springs Road to combat speed and unsafe passing. The road is the main road between Prescott and Skull Valley, where several fatal accidents have been seen over the past few years. Most of the accidents have been because drivers fail to obey traffic rules and dangerous driving maneuvers. Over the weekend, deputies stopped numerous vehicles, all driving at least 20 miles per hour over the 50 mile an hour speed limit. Last year, deputies responded to 49 speed related crashes with one fatality. So far this year, there have been three fatal accidents on area roadways. Law enforcement officials remind drivers to slow down and allow yourself and others to arrive at their destinations safe and unharmed.
