YCSO Looking For Information On A Man In Custody In Connection With A Sexual Assault Last Summer

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is looking for information on a man who is in custody in connection with a sexual assault that took place in the Mayer area last August. A 47-year-old victim told detectives that she was offered and accepted a ride by a man who was driving a large water truck and dressed in construction clothes. The man then pulled out a firearm and threatened the woman. He drove them to a remote area where he sexually assaulted the victim and then let her go. When the victim returned home, she called YCSO and detectives gathered DNA from the assault. Once the DNA information was confirmed and the suspect located, YCSO detectives executed a search warrant on the home of Brian Hernandez back on April 12th. Evidence from the assault was found in his vehicle and at the home. Hernandez was arrested and charged with sexual assault, kidnapping and aggravated assault and has been booked into the Camp Verde Jail. YCSO is still looking for information from the public regarding Hernandez. He was seen in areas around Northern Arizona, as well as Scottsdale and Mesa since 2017. Hernandez is a Hispanic male, about five-foot-seven and around 215 pounds, with brown eyes, balding, with a dark brown beard. Anyone with information into Hernandez is asked to call YCSO at (928) 771-3260.
