YCSO Deputy Helps Reunite A Teenage Girl With Her Dog

A Yavapai County Sheriff’s patrol commander recently helped a teenage girl be reunited with her dog. The officer pulled over a vehicle on Highway 69 and Fain Road in Prescott Valley Monday afternoon at around 4 p.m. The 46-year-old driver had no current home address and was extremely intoxicated while her 13-year-old daughter was in the passenger seat. The driver told the officer they were going to camp out because she was evicted from a shelter due to her drinking. The officer noticed a dog in the car as well. The driver was arrested for DUI and the girl was turned over to the Department of Child Safety. It was apparent to the officer that the dog was very important to the girl, but DCS couldn’t take the dog and the girl. The officer took the dog home for the night until it was determined how to reunite the two. The dog was returned to the girl Tuesday and they are both currently living in a foster home.
