Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Cordes Lakes man back in October after a domestic violence incident. Deputies were sent to the home at around 3:15 p.m. on October 5th on a report of a badly beaten woman. The victim was discovered by the landlady and her son-in-law. They told 51-year-old Richard Ellsworth the woman needed medical help. Richard told them she didn’t and it was none of their business. They immediately called 911. When deputies arrived, they found the woman severely injured. At the time Richard claimed his wife came home in that condition and suggested her “boyfriend” caused her injuries. The victim was taken to a Phoenix-area hospital. Both of her eyes were swollen shut, she had multiple orbital bone fractures, facial trauma, broken nose, traumatic brain injury and multiple fractured ribs. At the time he was being held on $50-thousand bond, but Yavapai County prosecutors were able to obtain a no-bond status for Ellsworth. He has been charged with attempted first degree murder, kidnapping and aggravated assault. He is also charged with sexual assault against both his wife and special needs son. The evidence collecting in the case is ongoing.
