After an eight-day search for the non-custodial parents of three young children who were abducted, the parents, 36-year-old San Tan Valley resident Ryan Nicholas Mullin and 32-year-old Paulden resident, Ashlee Lynne Waldie have been arrested in Apache Junction. Back on December 7th, Mullin and Waldie drove from Apache Junction to Paulden to visit the home of the children’s grandparents. Officials say the Department of Child Services had already been involved due to the parents’ drug use and neglect, giving the grandparents temporary custody of the children. Mullin had called the grandparents on the way, allegedly threatening to kill them if they tried to stop Mullin from taking the kids. Mullin and Waldie arrived at the home and took the children. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene to find both Mullin and Waldie had left, but were able to obtain a warrant for both of their arrests. With the information given by YCSO, the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force was able to find the parents and children in a vehicle in Apache Junction and arrest the parents. The children were medically examined and turned over to DPS. Mullin and Waldie have been charged with Abduction of a Child from State Custody and Mullin may face charges of weapon crimes, after being found with a gun. They have been booked into the Yavapai County Jail.
