Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say a voter record scam has been received in the county. Authorities say recently a citizen says they received a call requesting to verify voter information records. The person called the Yavapai County Recorder’s Office to determine if this was a normal course of business by the county. The recorder’s office wants citizens to know that they will never call and ask for any personal information pertaining to a person’s voter registration records. Also, don’t provide your driver’s license or voter ID number should you be asked. Sheriff’s officials say this has been a scam around the country from years. As always, the best defense against scammers is to simply hang up.
