A missing Prescott man has been found dead. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies had been looking for 84-year-old Charles Edward Hartlerode. He was last seen at a family friend’s house on Idylwild Drive on Monday, November 25th. He left most of his belongings, except for a small blue bag he takes with him wherever he goes. He lived previously in Sante Fe, New Mexico and told someone by phone he was going there, expected to arrive back on November 28th but never arrived. Hartlerode’s body was found Thursday partially hidden on the property of his family’s friend. Detectives say based on preliminary information, Hartlerode died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body has been taken to the Yavapai County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.
