Yavapai County Jail Inmate Found Dead In His Cell Last Week

Yavapai County Jail employees found a 21-year-old inmate dead in his cell last Saturday. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say the inmate had managed to disassemble jail issued clothing and formed a ligature to restrict his breathing. Detention deputies administered CPR and called for EMT’s. When they arrived the inmate was pronounced dead. The inmate had been sentenced to 180 days in jail back on January 5th after he was arrested by Prescott Valley Police in September. He was awaiting a bed in a treatment facility when he took his own life. The incident is under investigation.
