Woman Rescued From Groom Creek After Falling Off Her Horse Sunday

A woman’s preparedness served her well after she was injured in Groom Creek Sunday after falling off her horse. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were called to an area off Senator Highway regarding a 39-year-old woman who was hurt. Officials say the horse apparently lost its footing while on trial number 307 and both the horse and woman rolled down a hill. The rider suffered a broken collarbone. The horse survived the incident and will be okay. A deputy and medical personnel, hiked more than two miles to meet up with the woman. At around 1:30 p.m. the woman was airlifted from the scene to a landing zone and then taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center for treatment. The woman had a working cell phone with good service in order to call for help.
