Woman Arrested In Cottonwood For Aggravated DUI And Child Abuse

A woman was arrested in Cottonwood this week for aggravated DUI and child abuse after she and another person, allegedly left her four kids unattended, standing near the roadway. Cottonwood Police were called to Main Street across from the KFC at around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Two adults initially with the children reportedly walked out of sight across the roadway from the kids and left them unattended. The person reporting the incident told police the same two adults later picked up the kids in a vehicle and were last seen driving northbound on Main Street toward the Safeway store, possibly drunk. Police pulled over the vehicle in the store parking lot. The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Lucinda Billie from Wide Ruins on the Navajo Nation, was found to have been driving while intoxicated, with her four kids ages three-to-eight years old in the vehicle. Police say she had a blood alcohol level of .20, which is over twice the legal limit. Billie was also driving on a suspended license due to a previous DUI charge.
