The Williams Police Department is alerting residents about a person who may be impersonating a police officer. Officials say the person has been making traffic stops and requesting COVID-19 travel papers. The suspect is a male and is driving an unmarked white pick-up truck equipped with emergency lights. Police remind residents that no officer will ask for any type of travel papers. Call 911 and ask the dispatcher that the person is an actual officer. Drive to a well-lit and populated area before you stop. Also ask for law enforcement credentials and no officer will demand you pay a fine in person. Police say to report any suspicious activity to authorities.
