West Flagstaff Rebounds With Solid Pitching And Defense To Beat Prescott 3-0 To Stay Alive At The State Tournament

The West Flagstaff Little League Baseball team is still alive in the state tournament after rebounding from a tough 6-5 opening game loss, to beat Prescott 3-0 Tuesday night at Mark Grace Field. Adrian Crockett was solid on the mound and kept Prescott off-balance all game long. He allowed a hit and struck out eight in five-and-a-third innings for the win. He reached his pitch limit with one out in the sixth inning, so Drake Shafor stuck out the last two batters of the game to get the save. West Flagstaff head coach Shane Burcar says Crockett “was Roger Clemens.” He adds, “he came through at the biggest stage.” Brock Cosper drove in the game’s first run with an RBI single in the third inning. West Flagstaff would tack on two more runs in the fourth inning en route to the win. Prescott’s Levi Raybon had a great pitching game of his own. He allowed three hits and walked five in five innings. The loss eliminates Prescott from the tournament. West Flagstaff advances to play Mount Graham, who fell to Canyon View 19-0 Tuesday. Wednesday’s game will start at 7:30 p.m. at Mark Grace Field.
