Senator Kyrsten Sinema announced Tuesday she has secured a provision in the Congressionally-passed Water Resources Development Act. The provision directs the Army Corps of Engineers to expedite the completion of the Rio de Flag Flood Control Project in Flagstaff. Sinema says completion of the project will “protect the Flagstaff community from catastrophic floods, spur job growth, and encourage infrastructure development.” She adds, “I’ll continue working with local leaders in Flagstaff and with my colleagues in the Senate to ensure the project’s completion.” The Army Corps of Engineers announced earlier this year it would provide the $52-million for the project’s completion.
