Vaccines A “Silver Lining” To The Dark Cloud Of COVID-19

Two brands of COVID-19 vaccines are about to become public and given to health care workers and those living and working in long-term health care facilities. Dr. David Englethaler from TGen North in Flagstaff says the vaccines are the “silver lining” in what has been a dark cloud regarding the virus over most of this year. He talked about how important it is to get the vaccine when you can. Englethaler says “every person that gets vaccinated is going to be one person the virus can’t get into.” He adds, “as we continue to increase the amount of vaccine into the community, it makes it harder for the virus to find the next person.” However, Englethaler says when the vaccines start to be administered to people, it will take a while to get community immunity from the virus. He says people will still need to take precautions, meaning wearing a mask, social distancing and washing your hands into the spring. Arizona set a record for new cases on Tuesday with just over 12-thousand new cases of the virus with 23 new reported deaths.
