The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a ten-million dollar grant to Prescott’s Earnest Love Field for construction of a new terminal building at the airport. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao announced the grant award Friday. Demolition of the current terminal, that dates back to the 1940s, is set to begin soon. The new terminal will be built at the existing location at 65-hundred MacCurdy Lane, just off Highway 89. The need for a new terminal presented itself after passenger travel to and from Prescott soared in 2019. Local companies have been contracted to build the new terminal. The City of Prescott has committed one-million dollars to the project and the State of Arizona is committing three-and-a-half million dollars to go with the federal grant. The new terminal is expected to be built and in operation by late 2020.
