One U.S. Capitol Police officer was killed and another was injured after someone rammed a car into the officers and hit a barricade at the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC Friday. After the car stopped, the suspect flashed a knife. Officials say once the suspect lunged at officers, he was fatally shot by Capitol Police. The injured officers were taken to nearby hospitals, where Officer William “Billy” Evans passed away. Evans was a member of Capitol Police for 18 years. The other officer is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. Capitol Police say there was no heightened security at the Capitol and it’s unknown if the incident was intentional, however, officials say the incident does not appear to be terrorist related.
