Two Staff Members, One Inmate Test Positive For COVID-19 In The Coconino County Jail

Two staff members, and an inmate, of the Coconino County Jail in Flagstaff have tested positive for COVID-19. Coconino County Sheriff’s officials were notified Sunday that both officers tested positive for the coronavirus after they were tested last week. The first officer developed symptoms on Wednesday and went home immediately. The second officer also fell ill and tested positive. Both officers are at their homes recovering from the virus. On Monday, testing began on all employees and inmates at the jail. Tuesday afternoon, jail officers received word that an inmate also tested positive for COVID-19. The inmate was booked into the facility on Sunday. He complained of a cough and was immediately isolated. There are currently 235 inmates in the Coconino County Jail and any new inmates immediately go into a 14-day quarantine. As of Tuesday, the three people are the only ones who have tested positive in the facility.
