Some prescribed burns are set for this week and next week in the Coconino National Forest. Fire managers will burn nearly 22-hundred acres today through Friday four miles south of the Mogollon Rim Ranger Station near Blue Ridge well south of Flagstaff. Just over 700 acres are set to burn next Tuesday six miles northwest of Flagstaff. Smoke is expected to move to the northeast. Next Wednesday and Thursday, fire managers plan to burn 844 acres nine miles south of Flagstaff. Smoke again is expected to move to the northeast. Smoke could settle into Kelly Canyon and possibly Oak Creek Canyon. Smoke from the burns are not expected to affect Flagstaff. All fires are needed to improve safety of the communities around them.
