Community members provided information to Cottonwood Police that led to the arrest of two suspects involved in debit card fraud. A victim called police last Thursday saying the person’s debit card was unintentionally left in the ATM at a local One AZ Credit Union. When she went to get it, it was gone. The following day she discovered over 16-hundred dollars was charged on the account. The card was used at several retailers in the Cottonwood area. Police obtained bank records and surveiliance video. A citizen assisting in the investigation was able to get 47-year-old Oaken Bernheim to turn himself in to Jerome Police. He was the person who allegedly used the card. During the investigation, it was found that someone gave the card to Bernheim. Police arrested 58-year-old Greg Allen from Cottonwood in connection with the case. Both were booked on charges related to credit card theft. Both remain in custody.
